More About New Era Guitars: Making Music at the Dunes

Born and raised in Northwest Indiana, Tony Klassen was a talented artist, furniture builder, and guitar maker. He was a self-taught musician, a naturalist, a hiker, and a handyman. He found solace in his Furnessville home, where he began building and selling guitars.

New Era Guitars: Making Music in the Dunes is a new exhibit at The Westchester Township History Museum that focuses on Klassen's life and guitar building career. It explores how his interest in art led him to careers in graphic design, furniture building, and eventually guitar making. Visitors will learn about the process and tools involved in building guitars, Klassen's clients, his inspiration, and his workspace. This exhibit will be on display through July 31, 2024

Westchester Township History Museum is located in the Brown Mansion at 700 W. Porter Ave., Chesterton. The Museum is an educational and cultural service of Westchester Public Library, and is open to the public free of charge from 12-5 PM every Wednesday and the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, or by appointment.
