Transitions has a fun, laid back and family-friendly atmosphere with a strong diverse riding program that is affordable and meets the needs of every horse and horseman. Students may also partial lease a lesson horse, giving an alternative to horse ownership that is more affordable. In addition to providing several different options and packages to fit your budget, the variety of disciplines and services we can provide reach far beyond that of your typical stable.

    TRUE NORTH TRAINING STABLES
927 North 150 West, Chesterton, IN
    (219) 728-7490
True North provides a safe environment where at risk youth and their families come for training in life skills and spiritual awareness in an equine setting. This includes, but is not limited to, children who struggle with depression, autism, foster/adopted, ADD, ADHD, self-harm, bullied, addiction, sexual abuse, incarcerated parents, eating disorders, truancy, and other similar society issues. We instruct our students through an eight-week program covering the following character qualities: relationship building; teamwork and leadership; respect; patience, perseverance and strength; focus; communication; critical thinking, decision making, discernment, and conflict resolution; and trust. Byproducts of these character qualities are values such as honesty, gaining control, confidence, empathy, compassion, love, gratitude, forgiveness, grace, humility, contentment and care. Individual lessons plans are uniquely designed based on the needs of each young person. Each lesson is planned to connect the horse and student. It is our desire to bring hope to those in need.

Book by John Weidman, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim | Directed by Matt Domasica

A multiple TONY Award-winning theatrical tour-de-force, Assassins combines Sondheim's signature blend of intelligently stunning lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of our nation's culture of celebrity and the violent means some will use to obtain it, embodied by America's four successful and five would-be presidential assassins. Bold, original, disturbing, and alarmingly funny, Assassins is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written.

Assassins lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States, in a one-act historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, writers Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish roller coaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.

    About
If you are the type that will WALK MILES TO GET TO A SECLUDED BEACH, this is your spot. On your way to the beach you will walk through the remnant of the once-widespread wetland system called Cowles Bog. The bog encompasses a marsh surrounding a small fen, where a stand of tamaracks and white pines grows on a floating mat of peat moss. Starting near the guardhouse in the northeastern part of the site, a boardwalk trail passes marshes and ponds that host horned grebes, black-crowned night herons, buffleheads, and a myriad of other water birds. You can hike right out to the beach and back on 4.5 miles of interconnecting loop trails. Two trailheads serve the trail system, each with a portable toilet. Parking is very limited and needless to say there are no lifeguards making the trek out to this secluded beach.

Indiana Dunes State Park encompasses 2,182 acres of beach, dunes, marshes, swamps, hardwood forests, and white pine groves and is surrounded by National Lakeshore lands. The park's 16.5 miles of trails allow you to explore all these habitats, which shelter diverse wildlife and provide excellent birding. Even on the busiest summer days, if you head away from the public beach house, you'll quickly lose the crowds. Scan the open water for ships, beachcomb, and take in the sweeping backdrop of the dunes. Watch birds on the open water, feeding at the water's edge, or from the small bird observatory in the park’s Nature Center. The park provides camping, picnicking, showers, snack bar, camp store, and a park naturalist. In summer, the park offers a small gift shop and swimming beach with lifeguards. Interpretive naturalist programs are held daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and on weekends the rest of the year. About
MT. BALDY IS CLOSED, but all other Indiana Dunes beaches and sand dunes are open. Visitors wanting to see or hike tall sand dunes are encouraged to visit Indiana Dunes State Park and do The 3 Dune Challenge (http://www.indianadunes.com/3dc). To complete The 3 Dune Challenge, a person must hike a special 1.5 mile course at Indiana Dunes State Park, climbing Mount Jackson (elevation 176 feet), Mount Holden (184 feet), and Mount Tom (192 feet). Some parts of the trail feature 40-degree slopes, making each step that much more, well, challenging. In the sandy vertical climbs, it’s common to take two steps forward and slide one step back. The 3 Dune Challenge’s dunes are significantly higher than the 125-foot Mt. Baldy. As for Mt. Baldy, it is just one of several Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore sites, and the other sites remain open, including West Beach, Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk, Porter Beach, Kemil Road Beach, Dunbar Access Point, Lake View Picnic Area and Central Avenue Beach. Explore this website or call Indiana Dunes Tourism at (800) 283-8687 for more information. Note that Mt. Baldy will remain closed until further notice while scientists investigate unexplained holes that have opened up on its surface. Mt. Baldy is the only site where such issues have been reported.

    - July 14 - August 14, 2016

Set in the hot summer streets of 1960's New York, THE ODD COUPLE reveals the adventures of two mismatched roommates; Felix Ungar, a neurotic fusspot news writer, and Oscar Madison, a slovenly sports journalist. The men attempt to adapt to each other's idiosyncrasies, all the while trying to rekindle their social lives … with side-splitting results! The riotously funny play, written by iconic playwright Neil Simon, is one of Broadway's most successful comedies and an enduring audience favorite. THE ODD COUPLE runs July 14 to August 14, featuring direction by Larry Wyatt.

"Fresh, richly hilarious and remarkably original. Wildly, irresistible and continuously funny." – The New York Daily News
