    Spring University Open House and Blood Drive - Give the gift of life and see what the Shepherd University Martinsburg Center has to offer. Shepherd University Martinsburg Center is hosting a Blood Drive and Open House on Tuesday, March 10th, 2015 from noon to 5:30pm. Did you know, every 2 seconds someone needs blood, and one pint can save up to three lives! After you donate, come to the Open House to take a tour of the Center, explore the majors being offered, and meet members from faculty and staff that can answer any questions you may have. This is a great opportunity and it is never too late to finish your bachelor’s degree or start your master’s. Light refreshments will be served, as well as chances to win door prizes.   • The North Face Endurance Challenge DC | 5:00am - 6:00pm | Sports and Recreation
    The North Face Endurance Challenge DC - The North Face Endurance Challenge returns to Algonkian Regional Park, Great Falls Park and the Potomac Heritage Trail again in 2015. The course keeps runners on their toes with ever-changing terrain. Overall, the course consists of 50% single-track, 30% dirt or gravel double-track, 10% gravel carriage road and 10% paved road. Events include 5K, 10K, Half Marathon on Sunday and 50 Mile, 50K, Marathon and Marathon Relay on Saturday.

    Gaithersburg Book Festival - The Gaithersburg Book Festival is an annual celebration of great books and great writing that has made its mark as one of the nation’s top literary events. It takes place Saturday, May 16, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the grounds of City Hall (31 S. Summit Ave.) in Gaithersburg, Md.

    The festival will feature more than 100 best-selling and award-winning authors who will participate in panel discussions and book signings throughout the day. Authors include:

Visitors of all ages also have the opportunity to participate in free interactive, hands-on writing workshops on a variety of topics.

    The Gaithersburg Book Festival is presented in partnership with Politics & Prose, Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, Johns Hopkins University – Montgomery County Campus, Montgomery County Public Libraries, Montgomery County Public Schools, Rio Washingtonian Center, Shout Mouse Press, The Washington Independent Review of Books, Whole Foods-Kentlands and The Writer's Center, with grant support from the Maryland State Arts Council.

    Admission, parking and handicap-accessible shuttle buses from Shady Grove Metro and Lakeforest Mall are FREE.
