Board to Death! Clue-themed Scavenger Hunt | 2:00pm - 6:00pm | Charity, Fundraiser, Hearts, Hands, CLUE, Mystery, Hunt, Scavenger, Village, Community, BuffaloBoard to Death! Clue-themed Scavenger Hunt - Put on your Sherlock Holmes deerstalkers and grab your magnifying glasses, and help solve the mystery. Board to Death! presented by Friedman and Ranzenhofer comes to Akron, NY on May 30th, beginning with registration at 2 PM in Russell Park. Participants walk to partnering businesses and organizations in the Village of Akron to receive clue cards and submit their final guesses for a chance to win a VIZIO 70” LED Smart HDTV. Dinner will be provided by Orazio’s Restaurant at the L.L. Tillman American Legion NY Post 900. The event will feature additional raffles during dinner (raffle tickets acquired separately). Tickets are available with a $15 pre-sale donation before May 11th or $20 donation after that date. All proceeds benefit Hearts and Hands, a local non-profit whose mission is to provide basic transportation and services to older and physically-challenged adults through a network of volunteers. Begun in Akron in 2003, Hearts and Hands currently serves nearly 700 care receivers in over 25 municipalities in Western New York. Independent Health Foundation's Kids Run | 9:00am - 12:00pm | Sports and RecreationIndependent Health Foundation's Kids Run - The Independent Health Foundation encourages children and families to participate in the 27th Annual Kids Run at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Delaware Park, near the Zoofari Courtyard of the Buffalo Zoo.
The free event, presented by Wegmans, includes a mini-dash for children ages 2 to 5 and a 1.8-mile run/walk for all ages, and strollers are welcomed.
Trophies are awarded to the top three boys and girls in a variety of age categories, and each participant receives a medal at the finish line, while supplies last. After the race, all participants can enjoy the Buffalo Zoo with $2 (cash only) admission per person. Limited, free parking is also available at the zoo.
Make sure you sign up for the free event by May 20 to receive a race number and timing chip.
