  • In the Garden Exhibit at Hammond Arts Center | Arts and Entertainment, Exhibit
In the Garden Exhibit at Hammond Arts Center - This show will feature the diverse artwork of Corey Hagelberg. This show will run from Friday, May 8th through June 5th.

    Opening Reception Details:
    Friday, May 8th from 6:30-8:30pm
Live music and refreshments will be served

    Artist Statement:
I seek to emphasize and embrace opposites and contradictions in our everyday experiences. My work blurs the line between humor and tragedy, current and historical, traditional and non-traditional, high and low art, natural and industrial, accusation and confession, and beautiful and grotesque. I hope that it will encourage the viewer to evaluate and challenge their own notions of meaning, value and beauty.
The imagery and symbolism in my work comes from my life in the Calumet Region of Indiana. This region on the southern shore of Lake Michigan is where the rare biodiversity of Indiana Dunes meets one of the most industrialized regions in the world. Much of the natural beauty of this area was destroyed in the name of progress. Yet, as the lake and wind move sand on the shore, new dunes are formed. It is this symbol of “rebirth” that inspires my work.

A play by: Noel Coward Presented through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc One of Broadway's most revived, and most popular plays, Private Lives, is the dazzling, irresistible comedy that author Noel Coward is best known for. We are thrilled to add this show to our 2015 offerings. A tantalizing look at love, loathing, and lust, this show is a must-see!

A 1930 comedy of manners, Private Lives focuses on a divorced couple who, while honeymooning with their new spouses, discover that they are staying in adjacent rooms at the same hotel. Despite a perpetually stormy relationship, they realize that they still have feelings for each other.

  • Crawpuppies | 9:00pm - | Arts and Entertainment, Live music, Band,
Crawpuppies - Crawpuppies call Northwest Indiana home since the band formed in 1995. Besides being a great cover band, they have 2 critically acclaimed original CD releases from 2004 and 2009. "Peaceful Amnesty", released in 2004, was the band's debut release and "World's Much Bigger" was the long awaited 2009 follow-up to their first album. The band has shared the stage with Blues Traveler, Counting Crows, Everclear, Live, Hanson, Gin Blossoms, Cracker, and Styx to name a few. There's no venue or situation Crawpuppies are strangers in. Crawpuppies are also 1/2 of the Beatles tribute act, Mega Beatles

Their cover song library is vast and diverse. The original songs definitely have a Beatle-influenced sound to them, but still boast an originality that keeps them fresh and new sounding at the same time.

A 1930 comedy of manners, Private Lives focuses on a divorced couple who, while honeymooning with their new spouses, discover that they are staying in adjacent rooms at the same hotel. Despite a perpetually stormy relationship, they realize that they still have feelings for each other.
