Even those who don’t sew can lend a hand. We need people to cut, press, and pin patterns to fabric.     Cross Country Ski Rentals Friday, Saturday, & Sunday when enough snow base - Through February, Lemon Lake, Oak Ridge Prairie, and Stoney Run County Parks (when snow conditions allow) will offer cross country ski rentals. Rental times are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and school holidays from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. All equipment must be returned by 4:30 p.m. (earlier if necessary due to darkness). Parks close at sunset. Closing times may vary due to sunset. The park manager has the authority to close the ski program when weather conditions are not favorable. Call each park site prior to your visit as weather conditions may be different from where you are located.

    The cost is $7 and includes the use of skis, boots, poles, and winter fun. Adult and children’s sizes for the skis, boots, and poles are available. Daily rentals are on a first come, first serve basis. All equipment must be used on the park site ONLY. Valid driver’s license or credit card must be left with park employee. It will be returned when equipment is returned. In the case of good snow conditions on non-rental days, call Stoney Run or Oak Ridge Prairie to check on additional availability of rentals. Cross country skiing is also permitted at Buckley Homestead, Deep River Wood’s Mill area, and at the Grand Kankakee Marsh after hunting season with your own equipment.

    For safety purposes dogs (even on a leash) or horses are not permitted on the trails when cross country ski rentals are operational – Safety First for Everyone. Remember all dogs must be on a leash in the parks unless they are at Dogwood Run at Lemon Lake.

    Stoney Run County Park, 142nd and Union Street in Leroy, east of Crown Point (219-996-6500)
    Seven miles of easy to moderate trail winding through a wooded hilly area and flat open space. Designed with intermediate to advanced skiers in mind. Trails are closed to horses when skiing is open and anytime January-March.

    Cross Country Ski Rentals Friday, Saturday, & Sunday when enough snow base - Through February, Lemon Lake, Oak Ridge Prairie, and Stoney Run County Parks (when snow conditions allow) will offer cross country ski rentals. Rental times are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and school holidays from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. All equipment must be returned by 4:30 p.m. (earlier if necessary due to darkness). Parks close at sunset. Closing times may vary due to sunset. The park manager has the authority to close the ski program when weather conditions are not favorable. Call each park site prior to your visit as weather conditions may be different from where you are located.

    The cost is $7 and includes the use of skis, boots, poles, and winter fun. Adult and children’s sizes for the skis, boots, and poles are available. Daily rentals are on a first come, first serve basis. All equipment must be used on the park site ONLY. Valid driver’s license or credit card must be left with park employee. It will be returned when equipment is returned. In the case of good snow conditions on non-rental days, call Stoney Run or Oak Ridge Prairie to check on additional availability of rentals. Cross country skiing is also permitted at Buckley Homestead, Deep River Wood’s Mill area, and at the Grand Kankakee Marsh after hunting season with your own equipment.

    For safety purposes dogs (even on a leash) or horses are not permitted on the trails when cross country ski rentals are operational – Safety First for Everyone. Remember all dogs must be on a leash in the parks unless they are at Dogwood Run at Lemon Lake.

Additionally, a portion of the proceeds will also be donated to Munster Community Hospital NICU for Research.

    to the Nature Center by 4:30 p.m.

    Stardust Bowl/BMO Harris Bowling Tournament to Benefit Lake Area United Way - Stardust Bowl & BMO Harris are once again teaming up to host a one-of-a-kind bowling fundraiser to benefit Lake Area United Way. Individual tickets are $25 and include bowling, shoe rental, drink tickets, pizza and goody bag. Corporate Team Sponsorships are $350 and include the same benefits as individual tickets for a team of 6 bowlers. In additions, company logo will be placed on goody bags, logo on event signage, recognition on Stardust and Lake Area United Way website for 6 months, recognition in media releases and social media. Also includes donation to Lake Area United Way
