Developed by the Titleist Performance Institute and designed for young athletes, in two age groups (5-7 and 8-11 years old), the program’s goal is to develop athletic skills that apply to any sports.

This program trains young athletes in fundamental movement through a progressive series of age appropriate skill acquisition drills in five specific areas:

    1.Locomotion movement skills
2.Stability skills, (agility, balance, coordination and speed)
    3.Manipulation/object control skills
    4.Awareness skills (Kinesthetic awareness)
    5.Sport specific skills

This program is designed to develop young athletes, both boys and girls, with well rounded skills that will make them a better athlete no matter what their chosen sport.

Taught by Ed Kirkpatrick, a Titleist Performance Institute certified Trainer, the participants will start the first week and end during the last week with an initial assessment of athletic ability. This assessment will assure that each individual receives the most benefit from this program.

Following the assessment, each class will provide a series of fun, but challenging drills to provide maximum skill development for each participant.

Limited to 12 participants in a class, classes meet on Friday and will run for four weeks beginning on July 8th, and running until July 29th.
Class times will be as follows:

Young athletes 5-7 years old 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Young athletes 8-11 years old 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

  • - The 2016 Republican National Convention will convene in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18-21, 2016. The RNC chose a 2016 convention date much earlier than in recent elections, allowing the Republican nominee to draw upon campaign cash designated to be spent only in the general election.

Ohio has been a battleground swing-state throughout United States campaigning history. The last candidate to win the presidential election without Ohio was Democrat John F. Kennedy in 1960. The last Republican presidential candidate to win the election without Ohio was Abraham Lincoln, 100 years earlier, in 1860. Cleveland last hosted the Republican National Convention in 1936.

The main 2016 Republican National Convention venue will be the Quicken Loans Arena. This main convention center is located in downtown Cleveland, and referred to locally as "The Q". The multipurpose arena seats 20,500, and includes 2,000 club seats and 88 luxury suites. It is home to three professional sports teams and hosts numerous entertainment events. Other supporting venues within walking distance of 2016 RNC main venue include the Cleveland Convention Center and the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel.

Other cities that were considered to host the 2016 Republican National Convention included Cincinnati, Columbus, Denver, Kansas City, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Columbus and Phoenix were eliminated on April 2, 2014. Cincinnati and Las Vegas withdrew on May 22, 2014. On June 25, 2014, the Republican National Committee announced that the cities of Cleveland and Dallas would continue to the final round of consideration to host the 2016 Convention. The recommendation to select 'Cleveland 2016' was made following a final review by the Republicans' site selection committee on July 8, 2014.

    - The McHenry County IL Genealogical Society (MCIGS) has made arrangements with the McHenry County Historical Society for our members to tour the Research Library located at 6422 Main Street, Union, Illinois. Please call 815/923-2267 to sign up for one of the timeslots available at 1:30 pm on either Thursday June 23rd or July 21st. This is a FREE event. Transportation is not provided.

The McHenry County Historical Society features a Research Library and a Museum. The Library is open year round during the week from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The museum is generally open from May 1st throughout the first weekend in October, as well as during special events throughout the year.

The Library focuses on McHenry County people and places. There is an old-fashioned card catalog for the book collection, classified in the Dewey Decimal system. In the classified collection are county, town and family histories, diaries and journals, scrapbooks, census records, church and Woodstock City Directories, title abstracts, high school yearbooks, family bibles, cemetery indexes, and veterans’ lists. (Bibliographies of these titles are found at http://www.mchenrycountyhisotry.org/reference-material-pt-1).

But just as important are the atlases and plat books, maps (including the original township government surveys and the colored city Sanborns), blueprints, aerial photos, photographs of people and places, postcards, political, military, and entertainment posters, obituaries, newspaper clippings, name indexes, baptismal, confirmation and marriage certificates, diplomas, biographical, school, municipal, and subject vertical files and more.

The McHenry County Historical Society Library could be just the place to find your local relatives. No McHenry family connection….go anyway and find out what gems you just might find at a local Historical Society.

This program trains young athletes in fundamental movement through a progressive series of age appropriate skill acquisition drills in five specific areas:

    - This war is also known as the First World War or the Great War. It was a global war originating in Europe that began on July 28th,1914 and lasted until November 11th,1918. The assignation of the Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife by a Serbian nationalist is what provoked this war. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, which was the formal beginning of the war.

  • | 7:00pm - 9:00pm | Meeting, Genealogy
    - McHenry County Illinois Genealogical Society (MCIGS) will hosts a presentation by Marsha Peterson-Maass who will discuss, “A 60-Minute Crash Course: Beginning Genealogy Using Accredited Methods.” This is a fun look at accredited basics and research methodology suitable for everyone. If you're a beginner you'll take away a sense of what you need to be doing in your research. If you're an experienced genealogist you might be surprised to discover how much of the accredited methodology you only "sort of knew" and that knowing the accredited research precepts can actually help revitalize your current search. Topics are chosen directly from the Fundamentals of Genealogy®: Basics for Everyone textbook so it's easy to follow along with the talk. Textbooks are distributed before the lecture so participants can peruse them during the lecture and can optionally purchase to take home for $20/each (this price is a 20% discount).

Marsha got her start in genealogy in high school when she entered a family history project in the State of Illinois History competition and tied for State Champion. Her first formal training in genealogy was at The Newberry Library-Chicago in the beginner’s class that she now teaches (since 2002). She is author of the Fundamentals of Genealogy® textbook series, blog and social media platforms. And today, along with teaching and lecturing on a wide range of topics, Marsha has a thriving forensic genealogy practice, called “Commercial DNA Analysis Services,” where she analyzes clients’ commercial DNA test results then offers a choice of several reports including the topics of → Unknown Parentage, Ethnicity Review, Building Family Trees, DNA Comparison of Siblings and Customized Questions. And this year, she was invited to join television celebrity CeCe Moore’s team at “The DNA Detectives” where they help adoptees find biological relatives thru commercial DNA analysis

The meeting will be held at The Pointe, 5650 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake, IL 60014 (next to Target) at 7:00 pm Thursday, June 9, 2016.
