The post-war pop-art movement, as this exhibition vibrantly demonstrates, wasn't limited to the U.S. (primarily New York) and Europe (primarily London). Pop art went viral — to put its influence in contemporary terms – and intersected globally with such art movements as Nouveau Réalisme (France), Capitalist Realism (Germany), Concretism and Neo-Concretism (Brazil), and even the Anti-Art in Japan. Exhilarating colors, images, patterns, iconography, and material juxtapositions are this exhibition's currency, with some 125 artworks by more than 100 artists extending widely beyond Warhol. Organized by the Walker, the exhibition next travels to Dallas and Philadelphia. There will be a Walker After Hours Preview Party on Friday, April 10, from 9 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $30. On Saturday, April 11, there will be several opening-day panel talks. Check online at http://www.walkerart.org for a complete schedule.
