    - The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

  • | 1:00pm - 3:00pm | Sports and Recreation, Pilites, Fitness, Health and Wellness, Exercise, Personal Training, Weight Loss,
    - Pilates Day is an international event celebrated on the first Saturday of May every year to foster the public's appreciation and awareness of the Pilates Method. This year, Pilates of Woodstock and Cathy Huffman will be hosting one of only three events in Illinois.

On May 7th from 1:00Pm to 3:00Pm, Pilates of Woodstock is holding an open house and will be conducting demonstrations of the Pilates system of exercise at their studio in the Woodstock Square Mall (110 S. Johnson St., Woodstock, IL 60098)

Created in 1912 by Joseph Pilates, the Pilates Method of exercise, is a “whole body” exercise that involves the whole being – mind, body and spirit. Joseph Pilates believed that physical fitness was the first perquisite of health and happiness and designed exercises and equipment designed to condition and strengthen the body.

Pilates is a challenging, but low impact, highly efficient system of exercise that trains multiple muscle groups at once. Focusing on developing safer, more efficient patterns of motion, Pilates provides a refreshing, full body workout that develops a strong core, creates an evenly conditioned body and improves flexibility.

Used for years by professional dancers because of the efficiency and safety, Pilates, is increasingly becoming the exercise system of choice for professional sport teams, elite athletes and individuals looking for a holistic approach to health and fitness.

Free and open to all, Ms. Huffman will be happy to show you how the Pilates method can provide health and wellness benefits regardless of your current training program or physical condition.

For more information on the World Pilates day, contact Cathy Huffman at 847-421-5244 , by e-mail at cathy_huffman@comcast.com or visit http://www.pilatesofwoodstock.com
