    Geauga County Maple Festival - Join in the fun, today through Sunday, as Geauga County celebrates the coming of spring and the years’ maple syrup crop. This festival takes place on Historic Chardon Square in the heart of Geauga County. For visitors looking for fun there are all the traditional things a festival offers; rides, games, food & great entertainment. What sets this event aside is all of the Maple related activities that take place over the weekend like the crowning of the Maple Queen, the “sap” run, bucket painting, Maple candy carving, Pancake Breakfasts (with pure maple Syrup), and pancake eating competitions.

    Area sugar bushes also put their syrup to the test with syrup & maple candy judging. Winning syrups are also auctioned off as part of the weekend entertainment. Food choices include Maple candy, Maple corn, and the popular Maple stirs available at the Log cabin on the square. Grand parades take place on Saturday and Sunday and showcase a lot of the community businesses and events.     Herb Fair - Start your planting season out right, and join the annual Mill Hollow Herb Fair. Today from 10-4 and tomorrow from 12-4pm. The Carriage Barn will be full of local vendors selling potted herbs and various herbal products. Many food vendors will also be selling an array of appetizing treats. There will be a variety of exciting activities for kids and adults; this event is fit for the whole family. The children’s activity corner will be full of fun herb crafts as well as other kid-friendly garden ideas. Adults can learn more about useful wild plants found in this area by joining a naturalist on a medicinal plant hike through Bacon Woods. Don’t miss this great opportunity to buy some nice herbs and products while also learning more about gardening and herbal use.

    Biggest Week in American Birding - This 10-day event is planned at the peak of spring warbler migration in the Lake Erie Marsh Region of Northwest Ohio. The “Biggest Week” will be jam-packed with workshops, warblers, free guided walks, warblers, half-day trips, keynote speakers, island birding trips, and more warblers.

    “The Warbler Capital of the World” features incredible views of warblers and other many other migrating songbirds, guided trips to area birding hotspots and private lands, Lake Erie Island birding trips, bird identification workshops, evening keynotes and socials featuring some of the regions wonderful food, wine, and music, and much more!
    The festival is headquartered at Maumee Bay Lodge & Conference Center on the shores of Lake Erie in Oregon, Ohio.

    When: Sat., May 16, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun., May 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 2015. Price: Adult’s admission is $6 and children under 12 and scouts in uniform are free accompanied by an adult.

    Join us as the Parma Lapidary Club hosts it 47th Annual Cleveland Area Jewelry Arts and Gem Show! Tickets are good for both Saturday and Sunday, and parking is free for both days. The show will include jewelry arts, gems, minerals, fossils, geodes, custom and handmade jewelry, and beads. There will also be exhibits, live demo’s, kid’s corner, silent/Chinese auctions and more.

    There will be over 30 quality dealers/exhibitors at the show this year. Many of them are new to Cleveland Oh.

    Special programs include a fossil presentation on Sunday (11a to 12p) featuring museum quality pieces. Also on Sunday (12p to 2p) an expert in vintage jewelry will identify and give you a verbal est. of value for your vintage estate jewelry pieces for free! (limit two pieces each person).

    Hessler Street Fair - The Hessler Street Fair is a FREE annual community arts and music festival, celebrating over 40 years on historic Hessler Road in Cleveland’s University Circle. It is a family-friendly event, showcasing local artists, food, musicians and poets. The fair is one Cleveland’s most successful, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

    Running from 11 am to dusk Saturday and Sunday, it features a diverse mixture of musical styles and venues, and is a non-profit, volunteer-run weekend, focusing on celebrating community, arts and culture. The Hessler Street Fair promotes a spirit of togetherness and carefree fun in a homegrown and family-friendly atmosphere.

    Vermilion Festival of Fish - This festive event features a lighted boat parade on the river and a “Crazy Craft” boat race. Pull up a lawn chair and make a day of it riverside and take in the sun and “crazy crafts.” And if you get hungry, treat yourself to a Walleye or Perch sandwich. Now doesn’t that sound yummy? Oh, and there’s plenty of activities, entertainment and crafts too such as sand castle building contests and pageants. This is a fun Father’s Day weekend event featuring a fishing contest, games, vendors and Lake Erie perch. An outdoor marketplace with unique items for sale is also available.

    Lorain International Festival - A celebration of the ethnic diversity, and the religious and cultural heritage of the “International City.” The spotlight Nationality is different each year. The festival and bazaar runs Friday through Sunday where more than 40 nationalities are represented with ethnic foods, pastries, crafts, and non-stop entertainment. The festival also features a kids area full of rides and educational fun. The International Queen will be chosen during Thursday nights pageant which features our princesses representing their nationalities.
    The International parade takes place on Sunday.

    Chagrin Valley Jumper Classic - For the next 10 days, one of Northern Ohio’s summer highlights is the popular Hunter Jumper Classic, held every July at the Chagrin Valley’s picturesque Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field. In past years, the show has hosted more than 500 competitors from over 30 states and several foreign countries. The event is organized by the volunteers of the non-profit 501(c)(3) Chagrin Valley PHA (Professional Horsemen’s Association) Horse Show, Inc.

    The highlight of the show is the Cleveland Grand Prix. The Cleveland Grand Prix has historic significance in the equestrian world because it was the first show jumping grand prix held in this nation, debuting in 1965. In addition to the two weeks of exciting horse show jumping competition, the show also features the following: Opening weekend competition highlighting riders from Northeast Ohio and the surrounding areas. Family activities, canine events, great food and great shopping.
