  • | 7:00pm - 8:30pm | Meeting, Depression And Bipolar Wellness Alliance
    - Welcome to The Depression And Bipolar Wellness Alliance. We offer support groups to all those who suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, and schizo-affective disorder. We promote wellness, provide public education, and resist stigma by raising awareness to the plight of the mentally ill. We foster a safe, compassionate environment and invite you to be vulnerable. It's o.k. to be frustrated, to cry, to hurt, or to share stressful life events. People move from illness to recovery, from isolation to lasting friendships. Many members believe that the support of peers is more beneficial than that offered by mental health professionals, or those who do not suffer from a mental illness. Try as they might they simply don't understand. If you're well or suffering your welcome here.

    - The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

    - Ready to clean out your dresser drawers, closets and garage? Bay Village is hosting a soccer gear roundup through May 8. Members of the Bay Soccer Club and Bay Presbyterian Church have joined forces to collect used soccer items to support the work of Ambassadors Football International, a 25 year-old international soccer ministry headquartered in Twinsburg, Ohio. Ambassadors missionaries will then distribute the gear to needy youths overseas.
So, if your players have outgrown shirts, jerseys, shorts, socks, shin guards, gloves, or cleats, this is a wonderful opportunity to re-purpose them. Used balls in decent shape and soccer backpacks are also welcome. If you are a team coach or manager, please note that it would be especially helpful to obtain entire (old) team uniforms.
Large collection boxes will be located within the Children's Entrance of Bay Presbyterian Church and at the Soccer Shed at Cahoon Park. Drop offs will be accepted at Cahoon Park on the Saturday morning of May 7.

    THE NIGHTINGALE

    2014 Unrated 100 min. France/China/subtitles
    Director: Philippe Muyl
Cast: Baotian Li, Xin Yi Yang

The NightingaleZhigen, an old Chinese farmer, has lived alone in Beijing for over 20 years after moving to the city to allow his son Chongyi to attend university. He decides to make the long journey from Beijing to Yangshuo to honour the promise he made to his wife to bring back the bird that has been his only companion in the city. His daughter-in-law Qianying, a beautiful rich career woman, asks him to take along his granddaughter Renxing, an only child brought up in the lap of luxury. While grandfather and granddaughter set out on their journey – one travelling back in time, the other discovering her roots – Chongyi and Qianying ponder the meaning of the life they have led in the sole pursuit of success and money. The contrast between the natural world and soulless modernity is movingly presented in this beautifully photographed film. Official submission of China to the Best Foreign Language film category at the 2015 Academy Awards.

“THE NIGHTINGALE demonstrates the ways urbanization has sapped our appreciation of country values and landscape. Mr. Muyl’s unforced direction, coupled with the cinematographer Sun Ming’s lovely images and Armand Amar’s unintrusive musical score, reminds us of what we are missing.” – Andy Webster, NEW YORK TIMES

“Well acted and beautifully photographed, the movie offers a window into both modern urban and traditional Chinese life.” – Nick Dent, DAILY TELEGRAPH (Australia)

“Vibrant, uplifting and authentic.” – Cameron Williams, FILMINK (Australia)
