Did he really call his shot? Some Disagree, some eyewitnesses and Cubs pitcher Charlie Root believe he did not. Even Babe Ruth's Daughter said that he denied it, but Babe himself also claimed he did it.

Often referred to as “Thunder in the Sky” The biennial Auburn Air Fair is being produced by a new committee of volunteers. The theme for 2016 is “Uniting the Generations” and is one of the most-exciting and family-friendly events held in Placer County this year. The date of the event is Saturday, October 8, 2016, with gates opening at 8 AM and opening ceremonies held at 10 AM.
Join us to witness the exhilaration and skill of the World’s best Parachuting Team, the U.S. Army Golden Knights, who is our main attraction for this year's event. Did we mention, Kids 10 and under are free and so is the parking!
Auburn’s Home Town Hero and Congressional Gold Medal Honoree and Triple Ace P-51 Pilot, Col. Bud Anderson will be a featured presenter telling dog fighting stories, showing his PowerPoint about his military service in WWII being held in a Hanger. He will be signing copies of his book, “To Fly and Fight, Memories of a Triple Ace”.

By 1962, the team earned the nickname the "Golden Knights". "Golden" signified the gold medals the team had won while "Knights" alluded to the team’s ambition to conquer the skies.
Since then, the Golden Knights have conducted more than 16,000 shows in 50 states and 48 countries, reaching an average of 60,000 people per show. The team has earned the U.S. Army 2,148 gold, 1,117 silver, and 693 bronze medals in national and international competition. Team members have also broken 348 world records.

Come experience the air to air combat story of WWII Triple Ace P-51 pilot and Auburn’s Hometown Hero, Col. Bud Anderson, at 94, he is one of the most celebrated, decorated and sought after WWII speakers in the world. To come explore aviation hands on with The M4 Flight Simulator, Sonic Boom Simulation Flights! Each unit seats 2 riders for an experience of exhilarating true feeling of flying and movement yet never actually leaving the ground. Two programs of actual live footage and three programs are computer generated. All rides offer a number of 360 degree barrel rolls, a true-to-life aircraft experience. The two M-4 units are permanently mounted in a 40 foot gooseneck 3-axle trailer.

Auburn Winds, formerly Auburn Concert Band, presents a concert with an “Americana” theme filled with selections by American composers on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 3 p.m. at the Auburn State Theatre (Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center), located at 985 Lincoln Way in Auburn. Admission is free, with tax-deductible donations gratefully accepted. Pieces from a variety of musical genres will be performed including “An American in Paris,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Amazing Grace.” Meadow Vista Boy Scout Troop 6 color guard will present the colors to begin the concert, and then the band will play “The Star Spangled Banner.” The concert highlight, “The Great Locomotive Chase,” accompanies a full-screen video of Buster Keaton’s 1926 silent comedy film, “The General.” “We are excited to give our audience a glimpse into the past of the silent movie era with this famous train chase, which is based on actual events from the American Civil War in 1862,” said Auburn Winds Conductor Tom Candlish. “It is fun to see how the music complements the comedic action on the film in real time.” For additional information, visit the band’s website at click for details.

Sweetest Day | NATL - Public Interest- Sweetest Day originated in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922. Herbert Birch Kingston, a philanthropist and candy company employee wanted to bring happiness into the lives of the sick, orphans, shut-ins and others who were forgotten by distributing candy to them. Thus, Sweetest Day was born. Today is the day to do something nice for someone that will make him or her say, "Oh, that's so sweet!" Annually, the third Saturday in October.
