    - One of the most venerated saints of both Eastern and Western Christian churches, of whose life little is known. Except for the fact that he was a Bishop of Myra (now Turkey) in the fourth century, and that from early times he was noted for his charity. Santa Claus and the presentation of gifts is said to derive from St. Nicholas.

  • | 6:00pm - | Arts and Entertainment, Edwin McCain, Live, Adult Alternative, Music
    - Tickets: click for details

Called the ͞great American romantic͟ by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights.

  • - On December 7, 1941 at 7:55AM (local time), "a date that will live in infamy," nearly 200 Japanese aircraft attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, long considered the US "Gibraltar of the Pacific." The raid, which lasted little more than one hour, left nearly 3,000 dead. Almost the entire US Pacific Fleet was at anchor there, and few ships escaped damage. Several were sunk or disabled, while 200 US aircraft on the ground were destroyed. The attack on Pearl Harbor brought about immediate US entry into WWII, a declaration of war being requested by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and approved by Congress December 8, 1941.

Santa’s reindeer are being very naughty; they’re outside flying around and they won’t come down. Even a rational appeal from Christy the Christmas Seal won’t work. Thank goodness Cowboy Jim arrives— he can wrangle those reindeer Texas-style, if only he could find his magic lasso. The stakes get even higher when Drifty leaves for a spontaneous vacation to the Lone Star State— where he melts. They’ve got to get those reindeer down so they can fly to Drifty’s rescue. Looks like they’ll need some of Santa’s Christmas magic.
