Witch Creek Fire Survivors' Commemorative Event
The Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo and the Fired Up Sisters organization are
collaborating efforts to create a commemorative fund raising event on the first
anniversary of the fires.
On October 18, 1100 American flags representing a home that was lost or damaged
during the Witch Creek Fires will wave proudly at the Rancho Bernardo, Community
Park. Opening ceremonies will commence Saturday, October 18, 9 00 am.
The RB Healing Field is a static display on an acre of land, featuring 1100, 3 x 5
American flags, each one representing one of the homes that was lost or damaged in
the fires. This number represents homes in Rancho Bernardo, Escondido, Poway,
Lakeside, Ramona and Rancho Sante Fe.
The proceeds from this event will benefit Fired Up Sisters' Grant Program, the
Rancho Bernardo Fire Department, Station 33 and the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo
Foundation, Inc. an inclusive community event that honors the families who have
survived this tragedy and are moving forward.
The Healing Field will be open from dawn to dusk on Saturday and Sunday. Hours are
dawn until noon on Monday. Admission is free of charge to the public. Pick up your
flag after the event or have it mailed.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with flag assembly on October 17 or to help
during the festivities over the weekend. Sign up and we will be in touch
