Colorado’s child abuse statute covers a wide range of conduct from negligently placing a child in a position that could have but did not cause injury to intentionally causing significant injury to a child. Ben has handled cases across the spectrum of conduct that falls under the child abuse statute and can work with you to determine the best defense possible for your case.

Records Sealing

Colorado law has changed significantly over the last 10 years allowing for the sealing of many misdemeanor and felony convictions. Collett Law has experience both sealing cases and successfully getting governor’s pardons for clients.

As a public defender in Denver’s Drug Court, Ben handled thousands of drug cases. As a result, he understands both the litigation strategies necessary to handle drug charges but also understands issues related to addiction, mental health and court ordered substance abuse treatment.

Sex crimes in Colorado carry severe consequences including sex offender registration, Colorado’s Lifetime Supervision Act and the possibility of mandatory prison sentences. Having handled many sex cases, Ben is well qualified to understand the nuances of defending sex crimes of all varieties.

Ben Collett

Over the course of his career, Ben has represented thousands of clients and taken over forty cases to trial in the Denver metro area. Ben currently works out of Boulder on private criminal cases as well as court appointments on felony matters. Prior to starting Collett Law, Ben worked in the Denver Office of the Colorado State Public Defender for over 6 years. During his time in law school, he interned in the Boulder and Jefferson County offices of the Colorado Public Defender.
