Our Story

This exquisite Victorian residence was constructed in 1910 by Clarence and Essie Bessent-McCorsley. Within its walls, they nurtured four children, fostering a loving family environment. Following Clarence’s passing in the late 1940s and with their children grown and married, Essie began renting out rooms to fishermen visiting Little River for a modest fee of $1.00 per night, with an additional 50 cents for a hearty breakfast.

The edifice was relocated to its present site during the 1970s, having been transported from across Route 17. Subsequently, Grandma Mary starts serving the public, offering delectable home-cooked meals.
Although the establishment closed its doors in the 1980s, the Victorian structure stood proudly on the hill until it was acquired and meticulously restored to its original splendor. Siblings hailing from Brentwood, Long Island, infused the Brentwood Restaurant with their culinary expertise, crafting a menu designed to cater to diverse palates and elevate the culinary arts to a pinnacle.
