Mahler - Symphony No. 5 “The symphony must be like the world,” Gustav Mahler once said. “It must embrace everything.” Although Mahler attributed no specific story or program to his fifth symphony (though some suggest it is an autobiography), it offers a transcendent experience for the listener.
