More About Literary Lorain: Bruce Weigl, Pulitzer Prize Finalist

Join us as Pulitzer Prize finalist Bruce Weigl – born and raised in Lorain – shares insights into why so many writers have come from Lorain. What inspires them and nourishes their creativity?

Weigl attended Lorain County Community College and earned his BA at Oberlin College, his MA at the University of New Hampshire and his PhD at the University of Utah. He taught at Penn State for many years before becoming Lorain County Community College’s first distinguished professor. There, he started a student veterans group and an online literary journal, the North Coast Review. He has published more than a dozen books of poetry, receiving more than one Pulitzer nomination, along with multiple other books and in anthologies. He has won the Robert Creeley Award, the Lannan Literary Award for Poetry, the Patterson Poetry Prize, the Poet’s Prize from the Academy of American Poets, the Cleveland Arts Prize, and two Pushcart Prizes. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Yaddo Foundation. And, remember, he was born and raised in Lorain!

Join us for his special presentation. Admission: $5 per person, light refreshments provided.
