More About Friends of Annville Free Library BIG Book Sale

It’s that time of year again! The Friends of the Annville Free Library is holding its Sixth Annual Used Book Sale from April 18th – 21st, 2018. The sale is open to the public and will be held at the Annville United Methodist Church, located at the corner of College Avenue and Main Street.

The Big Book Sale Committee, chaired by Karin Mitchell, has been working year round collecting, cleaning, and organizing thousands of donated books. Books have been sorted into over 60 different genres and boxed for storage at a space generously donated by Annville’s St. Mark Lutheran Church.

Between 14,000 and 16,000 gently used books will be available for sale. In addition to the usual selection of current fiction, books have been sorted for easy browsing into such categories as history, gardening, children’s and travel. This year’s special donations include a large number of photography and architecture books, an unusual collection of track and field guides, home school and teacher materials, over 100 puzzles, and many first lady and presidential biographies. Hardcover books are priced at $2 while paperbacks sell for $1 a piece. A nice assortment of rare and collectible books will also be offered.

The book sale kicks off Wednesday evening with an early bird sale from 6:00 – 8:30 pm. For an admission price of $5.00 per adult, readers can beat the crowds and have first pick of the thousands of available books. The three-day main sale is free to the public. Sale hours are 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Thursday and Friday, and 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on Saturday. A $2.00 bag sale will take place all day Saturday, at which shoppers will be provided with canvas bags that they may fill to the brim. In addition, volunteers from Annville United Methodist Church will be selling lunch items, Mr Sticky’s famous homemade sticky buns, and beverages daily during the four-day sale.

The funds raised from the sale of books are used to support the Annville Free Library with such expenses as circulation, equipment, and special programs. Donations of gently used books are accepted year round at the library.
