More About this Event Poster: TriState Town Planner

In 1986, Larry Paulozzi created the first Town Planner for a several communities in Cleveland, Ohio. The calendar became a tool that allowed the families in a community to have a one stop resource guide to all the information and events that occur daily. The creation also allowed business owners more direct access to families and offered them a chance to have their message or offer be on display for 365 days a year at a cost of pennies per household. This concept has continued to grow over the years building the Town Planner brand. Today the Town Planner publishers distribute the Town Planner community calendar to over 4,000,000 households nationwide.

Finding the concept intriguing, Steve Nelson approached several business people in the Cumberland area asking for their feedback. Their response was overwhelmingly positive and after much due diligence, including meeting with existing publishers and Town Planner customer’s in Pittsburgh and Annapolis, Nelson Marketing & Publishing was formed and purchased a license to produce the Town Planner Calendar. From that humble approach in 2004 of being a home-based business distributing the Town Planner in Allegany County Maryland, to currently distributing nine different regional editions in Allegany and Garrett counties in Maryland, Bedford and Somerset counties in Pennsylvania, and Mineral, Hampshire, Hardy, Harrison, and Grant counties in West Virginia. All of the print programs include a digital component featuring Town Planner website, weekly email newsletter, printable and sharable coupons and events, and soical media applications.

Additionally the business produces the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory, the Allegany County Tourism Destination Guide and offers design and print services from their offices in the TWR building in downtown Cumberland.
