Chaos, Climate and Creation - an evening with Michael Meade

More About Chaos, Climate and Creation - an evening with Michael Meade

Join renowned author, mythologist and storyteller Michael Meade for an evening of myths of renewal, tales of transformation, and a resounding call to find unity and wholeness in this time of conflict and confusion.

As the chaos in the world increases, most ideas of the future become fatalistic. Yet, the situation only seems “hopeless” when viewed from the narrow logic of a collapsing world view. Old ways of seeing the world are blocking more vital paths of imagination, vision and healing.

The point is not simply evolution or progress, rather there needs to be a collective rite of passage that transforms our world view. Transformation is required to move us from despair and overwhelm to awakening and imagination. We are either on the way to transformation or on the road to greater tragedy.

The agony of the earth calls for each of us to defeat the growing alienation and isolation of life in order to become more human and be more present. The issue is not the pretension of “saving the planet,” but rather finding deeper ways of serving the earth.

This world, despite all its troubles, remains a place of ongoing creation. Yet, creation can only work through the souls of those alive at a given time. What we learn from mythic stories and imagination is how our human nature can make us part of the ground of being and the vital pulse of the living world.

“Climate change and eco-degradation can become the context in which the core values of humanity become redeemed rather than lost.” - Michael Meade

More About this Event Poster: Mosaic Multicultural Foundation

Established in 1993, Mosaic Multicultural Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has initiated innovative projects and unifying events that support and educate at-risk youth, refugees, combat veterans, and communities in need. Mosaic creates community through events involving artists, activists, community builders, healers, and spiritual teachers working in inspired ways to develop cross-cultural alliances, mentoring relationships, and forms of community healing.

Mosaic seeks to inspire awareness through community activities and creative ceremonies that reconnect people to meaningful traditions and the sacred ecology of place, while offering opportunities for personal growth, spiritual awakening, and leadership development. Mosaic publishes and produces the work of renowned storyteller and mythologist Michael Meade through an extensive collection of books, audio, essays and podcasts, as well as producing a full calendar of national and international community events.

Mosaic’s projects include mentoring youth and awakening the wisdom of elders, finding common ground between those in opposition, shaping community events that unite people of various cultural and spiritual backgrounds, and encouraging greater understanding between people with diverse and divergent backgrounds and experiences. We address contemporary issues by combining traditional ideas and practices with fresh insights to reveal where new cultural forms can be conceived and developed.

"Amid the rattling of cultural institutions and radical changes in nature, it may be time to turn again to valuable traditional methods of cultural healing and individual mentoring. Shaping new forms from separate, estranged, or even broken pieces is a dynamic remedy for the personal isolation and spiritual dislocation that increasingly characterize modern life. The creative act of finding and fitting together the divergent yet necessary elements of a diverse culture can produce 'moments of wholeness' in times of great uncertainty."
- Michael Meade
