More About BCA: Fundamentals of Lindy

Date: Tuesdays, July 16 - August 13
Time: 6:45- 7:45 PM
Location: Downstairs studio
Tuition: $70 per student
Lindy began in the ballrooms of Harlem in the late 1920's as a response to the latest craze in music, Jazz. Lindy is characterized by some of the same things that make Jazz music great; syncopated rhythms, improvisation, and call and response. In these classes you will learn the basic 8 count footwork pattern, the swing out, circle and several other moves that define Lindy. You can see examples of Lindy in movies and TV shows like "Swingers", "Malcolm X”, "Swing Kids”, "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing With The Stars". Lindy can be danced to a variety of tempos and is often danced to swing music that includes traditional jazz from New Orleans, big band swing, and jump blues.

You do NOT need a partner to take this class, however, there is a discounted rate for people who sign up as a couple with one person
assuming the role of leader and the other person assuming the role of follower. Use the code DANCEPARTNER.
