More About Mendelssohn Piano Trio presents “Reconciliation of Rivals”
Jan. 30th at 4:00 p.m., Calvin & Janet High Center, Parmer Hall
Mendelssohn Piano Trio, Stuart Malina and Sara Cyrus explore the creative rivalry between Tchaikovsky and Brahms through the juxtaposition of two powerful compositions inspired by personal loss. While both composers openly expressed disapproval of each other’s styles, they found an inspiring reconciliation on a personal level after meeting for a dinner on New Year’s Day in 1888.
