More About this Event Poster: Dunes Learning Center

With a mission to inspire lasting curiosity and stewardship with nature, Dunes Learning Center connects children with the outdoor world through lessons in conservation and sustainability led by professional educators. Immersed in nature, students learn from hands-on experiences, grow to appreciate the environment and take action as the stewards of tomorrow.

Based within Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, Dunes Learning Center is one of 17 independent nonprofits delivering residential and outreach environmental education programs in collaboration with the National Park Service. Established in 1998, Dunes Learning Center continues the environmental education legacy of co-founder Lee Botts, a strong advocate of preserving public lands and protecting the Great Lakes for future generations.

Today’s environmental leaders and scientists trace their interest back to childhood experiences. This year, more than 12,000 students will benefit from hands-on, field-based experiences that will pay dividends for years to come. A more sustainable future for all can be achieved by better understanding the interdependence of a healthy environment, vibrant economy and equitable society.
