More About Contemporary American Dining Destination, Harbor, Opens in South Loop

Parelta Hospitality, LLC is thrilled to announce new American cuisine dining destination, Harbor, opening 2019 in the former Gioco space. Located in the heart of the South Loop at 1312 South Wabash, Harbor reinvents traditional American fare with a locally sourced menu by Chef/Partner Anthony Bernal (Mastro’s Steakhouse), and unique beverage program, both influenced by the Great Lakes and the founders’ personal passion for sailing. Having worked on some of the nation’s hottest restaurants including Mastro’s Steakhouse, Fig & Olive and Francesca’s Restaurant Group, Partners Chris Parth, Adam Ellis and Anthony Bernal bring their extensive hospitality expertise to the table with the opening of Harbor. A sleek, open space invites guests to unwind, indulge and enjoy the ultimate sensory dining experience in Chicago’s South Loop.

“The idea for Harbor came about when we walked through the space and saw the amazing bones and character it had and wanted to contribute to the landmark history of the building. We were excited to be a part of the growing dining scene in the South Loop and this location allows us to provide guests with so many options,” said Chris Parth, Managing Partner of Harbor Chicago. “They are able to enjoy oysters and a cocktail at the bar, sit at the dining counter and observe the craft and technique of the chefs, host a private dining event or dine by our fireplace. Through our combined experience, we have long partnerships with local purveyors to source great ingredients so this concept just fell into place for us.”

Harbor pays homage to the Great Lakes and local rivers with a locally-sourced menu curated by Chef Anthony Bernal, using only the finest ingredients from the region. Tradition meets creativity in the most delicious way with the restaurant’s charcuterie program, which will be housed in a designated charcuterie room where chef will freshly cure meats in house, and a full raw bar offering favorites including oysters, shrimp, crab and clams, which will offer an approachable happy hour and late night menu. The menu will feature savory dishes prepared on a rotisserie, grill and hearth oven in an open view kitchen for guests to enjoy and watch as chefs prepare their plates.

Designed to complement the locally-inspired cuisine, the unique beverage program at Harbor also takes inspiration from the Great Lakes, offering guests an array of packaged beer selections hand-selected from the region. The beverage menu will feature more than 50 wines from around the world, including 16 wines by the glass, six of which will be offered on draft allowing for higher end options at attractive prices. Also on draft will be specialty cocktails and ten draft beer for guests to choose from.

Architects Barker/Nestor and Ingrassia Design join forces for the restaurant’s unique design, fusing bright colorways with earthy tones to fit the downtown aesthetic, which was constructed by Level Construction. The sleek dining destination has four spacious areas, including a full bar with high top and table seating next to the cozy fireplace. As guests make their way down the stairs, they are taken to the open kitchen and dining room, featuring banquet seating and open doors that will open during warm weather months.

Private dining will also be available with two separate spaces: the first back room seats up to 50 guests and features a private bar for guests. The second private dining room accommodates 20 guests, featuring a beautiful 17-foot-long, single slab walnut table, as well as a glass cased cooler to display the meats and cheeses offered on the menu. Timberwolf Slabs has brought all of the tables, including the larger-than-life single slab table, to life.

Harbor will be open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. with lunch and brunch hours being added soon. For more information or to make a reservation, visit click for details, or their Instagram, @harborchicago.
