Clarksburg Premium Outlets is proud to welcome the DC-area’s first SpeakUp5k, benefiting the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation. On Saturday, May 11 at 8:30 a.m., guests of all ages are invited to walk, jog or run through a specially designed course that includes a fun zone with bubbles, hula hoops and more as well as a special section with inspirational signs. The race will feature several components to reduce stigma, provide education and raise awareness of mental health issues faced by teens and their families.

The Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to destigmatizing mental health in teens and their families by raising awareness, spreading positivity and providing tools that help. The SpeakUp5k is the creation of Cameron K. Gallagher who lost her life due to an undiagnosed heart condition just after she finished the Shamrock Half Marathon in Virginia Beach in 2014. Gallagher, who suffered from mental health challenges, planned the 5k race as a vehicle to erase the stigmas associated with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues, especially in teens and to provide hope to those who are affected.
