More About A Rising Star Children's Center

"A Rising Star Children's Center is more than a childcare center. At A Rising Star, Gloria Foster-Vayda and Tom Vayda have created an educational environment where children are excited about learning and are guided to discover their inner talents. For more than 13 years, A Rising Star has been the most trusted and respected childcare, preschool, and pre- and after-school care program in Cortlandt Manor, New York.

With more than 40 years of combined teaching and childcare experience, Gloriaand Tomhave the knowledge and training to help children develop into lifelong learners who are confident and independent. Employing a focusedlearning style with daily objectives, lesson plans, and evaluations, the award-winning curriculum at A Rising Star encourages children to become leaders in the classroom. A Rising Star offers a full range of programs, including:

Infants: The program is a relationship-based model which provides experiences to support learning and development. We support healthy and caring routines such as singing to and reading for language development, crawling and climbing, discovering and developing basic motor movement
Toddlers: In the toddler program, kids continue to learn how to navigate the sensory-motor world while also developing the skills they'll need in their increasingly social world via parallel and cooperative play.
Preschool: The preschool program includes language development, critical thinking, math concepts, science, and an awareness of the world. Learning occurs both independently and in small groups, and activities are designed to enhance cognitive learning. Our goal is experiential learning while having fun to encourage the children to be excited about learning.
Before- After-school Program: The before- and after-school program is for children ages fiveto 12. Students participate in a range of activities, both recreational and educational. A Rising Star has a private outdoor play yard where children can get physical activity and play games together. Children are encouraged to work on their homework independently with the assistance of experienced teachers.
