More About (un)Comfortable Truths: Engaging Race Faithfully starting 30 June

A self-reflective & Interactive 5 part online learning series starting on 30 June.

Ever since the death of George Floyd on Memorial Day, grief and outrage have reached a boiling point across our nation. For too many, it is another instance of an all too familiar pattern; for others it is particularly—even uniquely—shocking. Here in Greenwich, the public response has included a march, two rallies, a vigil, and a host of community forums with public officials and anti-racist leaders. It’s also generated a great deal of private conversation.

But what about FAITH? Does the word of God offer clear guidance right now? Your pastors think it does.

Wherever you find yourself at this moment, we encourage you to face “(un)Comfortable Truths” and join Reverend Max in the first of a series of conversations on Zoom, beginning Tuesday, June 30th at 7 p.m. (RSVP at click for details.)

Over five sessions, we will delve into topics such as learning to “see” race, different ways that people discuss race in the public square, what the Bible and Christian traditions have to say, race and the churches in American history, and how we might learn today from all these sources and from one another. There will be some small assigned work between sessions.

While attending all the sessions is ideal, you are welcome to plug in at any point to engage in the process of honest personal reflection. Non-church members and people of all faiths are welcome and encouraged to explore with us.
