PEDIATRIC FRONT DESK ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Personable, energetic, front desk pediatric medical office team member to provide excellent service to kids (babies thru college!) & their parents/caregivers!

Qualifications include Multi-tasking, Flexibility, Telephone Skills, Customer Service, Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail, Appointment Scheduling, Professionalism, and Quality Focus, insurance verification, medical terminology, medical coding, and billing.

MEDICAL BILLER Medical Billing & Coding

This person will be a full-time, goal-oriented, revenue-driven, highly accurate and motivated individual. Primary duties include but are not limited to: consistently follow up on unpaid claims and patient balances utilizing monthly aging reports and filing appeals when appropriate to obtain maximum reimbursement. Secondary duties include but are not limited to: data entry of all patient demographic, guarantor and insurance information, posting charges and insurance/patient payments, balance to daily deposits.

This role within the office is a safety-sensitive position.

REQUIRED SKILLS
• Computer experience is essential, including, but not limited to: practice management software, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Experience in billing and coding procedures using EOB’s, CPT and ICD-10; familiarity with medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Perform basic business math applications
• Ability to manage relationships with various Insurance payers and parents/patients.
Experience in appropriate collection and accounts receivable processes
• Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies to ensure maximum entitled reimbursement.
• Responsible use of confidential information.
• Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures.
• Ability to multi-task and work courteously and respectfully with fellow employees, clients and patients.

DETAILED WORK ACTIVITIES
• Maintain daily charge posting.
Ensure all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors.
• Verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission.
• Accurately post all insurance payments by line item.
Accurately document all conversations and processes in the patient’s account
• Timely follow up on insurance claim denials, rejections, exceptions, or exclusions.
Promptly process and submit all appeals per insurance payer requirements
• Meet deadlines.
• Reading and interpreting insurance explanation of benefits.
• Utilize monthly aging Accounts Receivable reports daily to follow up on unpaid claims aged over 30 days.

Maintain regular communication with parents and insurance companies for payment, thoroughly document in patient’s account

Review account credits to determine if they need to be refunded to parent – give to Manager for approval and final processing.

Process any account that has not responded to their three (3) statements for Collections Agency
• Make necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by insurance companies.

• Respond to inquiries from insurance companies, patients and providers.

• Regularly meet with Practice Manager to discuss and resolve reimbursement issues or billing obstacles.
Assist with insurance verification process to obtain accurate benefit information and document in patient’s account.

Send out patient statements weekly, to include reviewing accounts for small balance write-offs and to apply credits toward balance due, when Manager is not available
• Regularly attend monthly staff meetings and continuing educational sessions as requested.
• Perform additional duties as requested by Management team.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Medical Billing experience preferred.

Ability to work well with the front office personnel, clinical and provider staff
Thorough understanding of medical terminology, billing processes, and coding techniques
Must be a self-starter and be able to function with little or no supervision.
Physical Demands Required to Fulfill Essential Functions of this Position
Employee must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Employee must be able to focus on tasks while in an active office environment where conversation and noise is prevalent. Employee must be able to operate a keyboard, write, speak, and hear. Employee must be able to view and type on a computer for long periods. Employee must be able to read small print both on paper and on a computer screen for long periods of time. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Additional Requirements:
Submit to and pass a drug test
Successfully complete a criminal background check
Working Conditions

There may be exposure to airborne and blood-borne pathogens and hazardous materials. This position is eligible to be a telecommute position.

We are seeking an energetic, computer savvy, pediatric medical assistant to join our team! We are a fast-paced pediatric office that provides both general pediatric & pediatric endocrinology care.

Responsibilities:
Injection/medication administration, vision screening, health screening review, vitals, point of care diagnostic/screening tests **, nebulizer treatments, maintenance of electronic medical records, scanning, faxing, maintaining clean & stocked patient/work environment, communicating with collaborating physicians/specialists, educating patients, medication refills, scheduling appts, reviewing lab tests & medical records w/follow-up, care plan mgmt, obtaining authorizations/referrals, inventory maintenance, other assistance to medical team as needed,
** sars-cov-2, strep, lead, u/a’s, flu, HbA1c, lipid panels, glucose, rsv, mono, spirometry, etc

Qualifications:
Ability to build rapport with patients and work with diverse populations
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Certified (or eligible to take medical assistant exam), or pre-med/nursing student
Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) preferred, not required
