More About St. Patrick's Day Festivities

Crown Point Mayor Uran’s Office of Special Events is planning for the biggest event of the year on March 17, 2018. The 11th annual nighttime St. Patrick’s Day Parade will commence at dusk featuring emergency vehicles, lit entries, Lake County Pipes and Drums, Grand Marshall Mayor David D. F. Uran, the Junior Grand Marshall Event Logo Contest Winner, and much more.

The city is in the process of searching for the best young artist around as this year’s logo contest has begun. Participants will have to combine the St. Patrick’s Day theme. Anyone interested in submitting a logo can find the template and guidelines available on our website. For logo template and more information, click for details

In addition to the logo contest, there will be a Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner catered by Comforts Catering. The dinner will take place at the Crown Point Fire Station from 2-6 p.m. Adult dinners are $10.00, senior dinners are $9.00, children’s corned beef and cabbage dinners are $6.00 and children’s hot dog dinners are $4.00. Dinners are available for pre-purchase by calling 662-3290 and will also be available at the door. For more information, click for details

Other festivities will include the Downtown Business Window Decorating Contest. The contest is for Crown Point businesses located in the downtown historic district with the winner announced prior to the parade at 6:30pm. For more information, click for details

Other St. Patrick’s Day activities will include performances by McCormack Fay Dance Co. at 6pm, the Lake County Pipes and Drums at 6:15pm and the Hometown Happenings Glow 1 Miler at 6:45pm.

Celebration festivities begin on the historic Crown Point Courthouse Square prior to the parade start at dusk. Vendors will be selling items on the south side of the Courthouse Square such as concessions, parade novelties, traditional Irish heritage items, jewelry, glow sticks and festive Irish themed items beginning at 2pm.

The parade will commence during snow, rain or shine on S Main Street around the square. The Mayor’s Office of Special Events is now accepting applications for both parade entries and food vendors. For more information, click for details
