The McHenry County Illinois Genealogical Society (MCIGS) is sponsoring an all-day conference for genealogists and family historians on Saturday, July 11, 2020. The event will take place at McHenry County College Conference Center, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake, Illinois from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The conference is ideal for everyone, no matter if you are just beginning to work on your family history or have been searching for years and need some new ideas to help you break through those brick walls. There’s always something new to be learned at every level.

This year’s speakers include Maureen Brady, a former school librarian and computer educator, has over 35 years of experience with family history research. She is the family history trainer for the Crystal Lake, IL and Buffalo Grove, IL Family History Centers. Peggy Clemens Lauritzen, author of several legacy QuickGuides on Appalachia, she is an instructor at Ancestry Academy, Family Tree University, and columnist for Reminisce magazine. Michael John Neill, writes and lectures on a variety of genealogical topics with particular interest in immigration, women’s rights, research methodology, and problem-solving. Paula Stuart Warren, is a genealogical and historical researcher and lecturer based in Minnesota. Her specialties include unusual records, analysis, research planning, problem-solving, manuscript and archival repositories, railroads, and Native American genealogy.

In addition to the presenters, a number of vendors including genealogy and historical societies, book sellers, and others will be available for you to peruse during the day. There will also be a number of fabulous door prizes available. All registrants will receive 5 door prize tickets.

Early registration discounts are available February 15, 2020 – June 15, 2020 for both society members and non-members. The cutoff date for registrations including lunch, is June 16, 2020.
