More About Probate

The McHenry County IL Genealogical Society will host a presentation by Ann Wells. -
Probate records are court records created after an individual's death that relate to a court's decisions regarding the distribution of the estate to the heirs or creditors and the care of dependents. Come learn how probate records differ from wills and where probate records may be found.

Ann L. Wells was born in England, raised in California and has lived in Illinois for over 20 years. Thirty years ago Ann started doing family research in response to her father-in-law not knowing anything about his family. That has revolved into being a professional researcher who no longer has much time to do the family research.

Ann has served on the board of a number of genealogical societies. She is currently a Director on the board of the McHenry County Illinois Genealogical Society (MCIGS) and is Immediate Past President of MCIGS. She also has served on Illinois State Genealogical Society, British Interest Group in WIsconsin and Illinois, International Society for British Genealogy and Family History and is currently on the Board of Nunda Township Cemetery Board.

The meeting will be held at The Pointe, 5650 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake, IL 60014 (next to Target) at 7 pm Thursday, August 9, 2018.
