More About Head Start has modified operations but still serving local familes.

Head Start and Early Head Start Staff have been working hard to modify our operations. While our centers are closed we are trying to keep our children and parents engaged though our presence on social media. Classroom staff have been creating activities that can be done at home. Our Classroom and Family Service Staff have been making contact with families to check on their well being. Our Family Service Staff are available to their families to share resources, referrals, and other information, as needed. Several of our centers have begun creating videos of activities that parents and children can watch at home. These have included story time, hand-washing, and other simple activities. Some of these are available on the HRDC Facebook page.

More About this Event Poster: HRDC Head Start

HRDC Head Start is a federally funded program that implements education, health and parent involvement into a secure, productive environment.

Services are provided to qualifying low-income families within Allegany County. Families of children ages 3 to 4 years old receive comprehensive preschool opportunities including components focusing on health, nutrition, education, disability services, parent involvement, medical and social services. The emphasis is on the total family – not just the children.

HRDC Head Start of Allegany County is devoted to making a difference in our community by offering comprehensive child and family development services. Our mission is to create a nurturing environment for children, educational experiences that promote school readiness and a strong foundation that allows both the children and their families the opportunity to recognize his/her potential.
