About Danbury Westerners Baseball

For 23 years Danbury Westerners Summer Collegiate Baseball has provided the people of Danbury, Connecticut and surrounding towns with exciting summer baseball.

So who are the Danbury Westerners?

The mission of the all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3), Danbury Westerners is to provide Major League Baseball-supported summer professional development baseball entertainment in the Greater Danbury CT and NY area to enhance social and economic development and add value to the quality of summer living and vacationing throughout the region.

Our games and players serve the community!
The Westerners games serve as a venue for honoring our community’s bravest citizens – veterans and their families, police and firefighters, as well as to advance the interests of local service and charitable organizations like Family and Children’s Aid, The Jimmy Fund, Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure and many more. In addition, our players annually lead a free clinic for young boys and girls, and make numerous appearances at local schools, libraries, hospitals and senior living facilities. Each year the Westerners donate thousands of tickets to these institutions!

Our players are future pro baseball players!
The Westerners are pro-potential college players recruited from across the U.S. Funded in part by Major League Baseball, over 140 former Westerners have been selected in Major League Baseball’s annual draft. 20 former Westerners have or are playing in the Majors, including Kansas City Royals Centerfielder Billy Burns, Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star Outfielder Matt Joyce and Colorado Rockies closer Adam Ottavino. In 2016 there were 50 former Danbury Westerners playing baseball throughout the country and abroad. In addition, our players are easily accessible for interviews, photographs and autographs.

Our competition is terrific!
The Westerners play a 44 game schedule in the NCAA and Major League Baseball sanctioned 13-team, 6-state New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) – a developmental wooden bat league for college athletes with professional potential. Major League Baseball scouts attend most games. Over 125 NECBL alumni have reached the Majors!

Our games are convenient, affordable and great family fun!
The Westerners play their home games at Rogers Park in downtown Danbury, minutes from I-84. There is a modest admission donation of $5/adult, $3/seniors. Veterans and kids under 12 are admitted for free. Concessions are reasonably priced, allowing an affordable evening of exciting sports competition!
