Opening Art Reception: Elements

More About Opening Art Reception: Elements

Join us for the opening of an exciting new show featuring the work of Jeanne Garrett, a local photographer and mixed-media artist focusing on the natural world. This project, entitled “The Elements – Earth, Wind, Water, Fire”, showcases environmental photography combined with stitching.

Through the use of textiles, Garrett captures the rhythms, shapes and delicate patterns she finds in photos of the natural world. She looks for images that best interpret her creative vision – most of which have some element of continuous movement. After contemplating each image, she begins to sew. Each work has texture; some have movement from loosely hanging threads and some have shine from metallic threads. Through this process, she combines the hand work of her childhood with the technology of today and transcends the line between photography and fiber arts.

Opening Reception Sunday, January 19, 1-3pm. Free artist talk with Jeanne Garrett and special guest, poet Ted Hazelgrove, will take place at 2pm. This show is on exhibition through February 23rd.
