DIY Picture Framing

DIY Picture Framing

More About DIY Picture Framing

Framing your artwork helps to preserve it and also makes it possible to display, but it can be expensive to do, and tricky to do right. This challenge can be especially hard on artists who may have to frame dozens of pieces at once to participate in an exhibition. Let us help you by showing you how to do it yourself properly and letting you practice with supplies and tools from BASE. In this class, you will learn about different archival framing techniques for different media and gain step-by-step knowledge on how to frame your own work. Techniques will include proper measurement, custom mat cutting, hinges, when to mount (and when not to), and more. After the demonstration, students will be given a chance to practice framing sample pieces – including a chance to cut a custom mat with the tool library mat cutters.

$5 members / $10 non-members. Pre-registration is required. Includes instruction and practice with tools and supplies from BASE (the Brushwood Art Supply Exchange) from our Upcycling Guru (and former professional picture framer), Julia Kemerer.
