26th Annual Sand Sculpture Contest

Watch the sand come alive at this year’s 27th Annual Sand Sculpture contest! The theme is “Games,” but sculpting groups are not limited to sand art with this theme.

The registration is free and the naturalist table opens on the east side of the Beach Pavilion at 9:00 a.m. the day of the event, but groups may begin creating as early as 7:00 a.m. the morning of July 15th.

Volunteer judges will begin evaluating sculptures at noon with awards being announced close to 1:00 p.m. Park volunteers will be judging sculptures for the funniest, most creative, and most thematic awards in both an adult and child group category.

Whether building or not, anyone can vote for their favorite in the “People’s Choice Award” between Noon and 1:00 p.m.

A special thanks to the Friends of Indiana Dunes for their support of this special event. They provide the prizes and goodies for participants and our winners.

Note: This event is in the Central Time zone from 9a.m. to 1 p.m. and it is free to participate after paying the park's entry fee.
