More About East Chicago Public Library Curbside Services

During this time of stress and uncertainty due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus), the East Chicago Public Library is committed to providing the best services, tools, and resources to you and your family. As a staff, we have implemented a sequence of preventative health measures to ensure the safety of employees and patrons. In an effort to continue to service the community, we are following strict social distancing procedures as we prepare to offer safe access to library materials. Starting Monday, May 18th, we will begin offering Curbside Delivery Services (books, movies, magazines, etc.) for patrons. Please keep in mind that our no-contact curbside pickup and delivery options will be available with limited staff, so please be patient with us. Home Delivery Services are also available to residents with disabilities and Seniors 65 and up starting Tuesday, May 26th. A full list of services, locations, and times is included with this letter so please see the attached flyer for details.

Although the East Chicago Public Library remains closed to the public, our facilities will reopen on Monday, June 15th with specific capacity rules and guidelines. If you are interested in obtaining a library card, please fill out an application for our temporary virtual card at click for details. Online resources, including EBooks, movies, and video streaming (Hoopla and Overdrive) can be accessed with your library card.

The safety of our community is paramount. We salute the doctors, nurses, first responders, and essential workers who are going to great lengths to assist in our community during this time. My hope is that we remain resilient during this crisis. Please take precautions to remain safe and healthy as we transition through this global challenge together. Thank you for your confidence and trust in the East Chicago Public Library as we look forward to servicing you and your family.
