More About El Ultimo Danzon

The City of Edinburg’s EMA Community Theater announces the original production of “El Ultimo Danzon”, a play written and directed by Laura Jaber and Rafael Perez.

The EMA Community Theater is a volunteer committee of the Edinburg Cultural Arts Division which brings community favorites such as FridaFest, Lost Muertos Bailan, and the South Texas International Film Festival. All EMA Community Theater productions provide volunteer opportunities and other forms of self-expression. All interested parties are encouraged to participate. The live performances will be from May 14th to the 16th and May 21nd to the 26th at 6:30 p.m. every night.

El Ultimo Danzon, the last dance, is a play revolving around the characters Ana and Raul. The Characters met at the Dance Palace where they fell in love to one another and the rhythm of music. After being married 2 years, the couple separates, and 3 years later they rekindle their love for one another and the dance floor. However, the memory of Ana’s ex-husband, Adolfo, reminds Ana the reason for leaving Raul which after a dramatic couples quarrel leaves Raul alone without the last dance.
