Anne E. DeChant is an award-winning Nashville recording artist originally from Cleveland, where she was a five-time Singer-Songwriter of the Year. She has shared the stage with performers such as Stevie Nicks, Norah Jones, Joan Armatrading, Travis Meadows, Sheryl Crow and the Indigo Girls, and has played venues ranging from the Clinton White House to such storied listening rooms as Nashville’s Bluebird Café, Moonlight on the Mountain in Birmingham, the Evening Muse in Charlotte, Music Box Supper Club in Cleveland, Kimbro’s in Franklin, TN, and Frog Pond in Silver Hill, AL. Before beginning her solo career, DeChant was the lead singer for the popular rock-Americana band, Odd Girl Out, based in Cleveland.

For her Stocker performances, Anne E. will be joined by band members Kelly Wright and Pete Cavano.

Some fun facts Anne E. has shared with us about her northeast Ohio roots:

“I was born and raised in Avon Lake. My great grandmother, Clara Tomanek, was one of the first citizens of Avon Lake. My mom and dad were born and raised in AL as well. Both graduated from AL high school and were high school sweethearts (were homecoming king and queen). I graduated from Avon Lake HS as well. Captain of the Cross Country and Track teams. Mom and dad still live in Avon Lake. Dad is a member of the Avon Lake Boat Club and both are very active in the community.

My family roots are in Avon Lake. The Avon Lake High School practice football field was actually my great grandfather Edward DeChant’s (state representative OH) grape vineyard. My uncle is Dick “Bones” Tomanek. He was born and raised in Avon Lake and pitched for the Cleveland Indians in the 50’s alongside Bob Feller and Herb Score.”

More About this Event Poster: Lorain County Community College

In April of 2014 LCCC launched the MyUniversity plan. MyUniversity is a guarantee that gives high school students the ability to earn college credit and college degrees right at their own high schools through the College Credit Plus program. MyUniversity is one significant way LCCC is delivering on its promise to deepen the impact of the University Partnership program. MyUniversity will enable high school students to even go as far as earning an associate degree simultaneously with their high school diploma. Students can then continue on to earn a bachelor’s degree through LCCC’s University Partnership program. In doing so, students can save over 80 percent of the cost of a bachelor’s degree through MyUniversity, essentially saving families tens of thousands of dollars in college debt.
