Grapes of Half Marathon

Grapes of Half Marathon

More About Grapes of Half Marathon

The sixth annual Grapes of Half Marathon is set for Sunday, May 20, 2018. Grapes of Half, produced by Pink Buffalo Racing, will feature rolling hills, scenic countryside views and three of Willamette Valley's premier wineries, Noble Estate Winery, Silvan Ridge Winery and Sweet Cheeks Winery.

Participants will park at either Sweet Cheeks Winery or Silvan Ridge Winery, and be shuttled to the start line at Noble Estate Winery and start the race in the vineyards. Prior to reaching the finish at Sweet Cheeks Winery, participants will tour Silvan Ridge Winery on foot, as part of the course.

The point-to-point race is well supported with five aid stations at miles 1.5, 3, 6, 8, 12, respectively. Keely Linn, past participant of Grapes of Half, sums up the course well. I keep running Grapes of Half because it is a beautiful run through the countryside with a fast downhill at the start and a challenging uphill in the middle and a monster uphill at the finish. You definitely earn your post race food and drink with that last hill. In addition to views of farmlands and plenty of farm animals, chances are participants will see falcons, deer, horses, and a hog at mile 2 that has run beside racers in years past. A generous course time limit of 4 hours allows participants to enjoy a leisurely pace along the course if they desire, as well as walkers. The total elevation gain over the 13.1 miles is 940 feet, with two category five climbs.

Custom event wine glasses and finisher medallions will be presented to all finishers. Age group medals will be awarded to the top three in each age division, which are in five year increments. Post-race refreshments are included, as well as three complimentary wine tickets that may be used once at each winery featured on race day. Pink Buffalo Racing is known for their outstanding finish line festivities, which at Grapes of Half include live music at Sweet Cheeks Winery and Unwind Foot Spa, a local foot soaking service. Silvan Ridge Winery will be open from 11 am - 5 pm and Noble Estate Winery will be open from 12 pm - 5 pm.
