More About Budding Gardeners Program: Grades K-5

Celebrate summer with our new Budding Gardeners program! This year, we'll be teaming up with the Penn State Master Gardeners of Somerset County (Penn State Extension) to offer courses on gardening and related subjects for kids Grades K-5! These meetings will be on Thursdays, June 16, 23 and 30 and July 7th from 10-11am at the Mary S. Biesecker Public Library. Special instructors will teach children gardening, seeds and germination, the parts that make up a plant, worms and compost tips, and what kind of bugs you'll find in the garden, while working to create and maintain their own gardens!
Children who participate in this program are welcome to join us at 11 am for the Summer Youth Cafe! We're working with the Summer Food Services Program of the Pittsburgh Food Bank to provide free bagged lunches to anyone under 18.
