More About CES presents Cirque Kalabanté "Afrique en Cirque"

Set to the pulsing rhythms of djembes, koras and other native West African instruments, "Afrique en Cirque" radiates with the vitality of traditional Guinean music and dance and the innovative virtuosity of modern circus. Pure joy from start to finish, the daring acrobats and spirited musicians of Cirque Kalabanté create a breathtaking, immersive journey for the whole family.

Hailing from Guinea and now based in Montréal, Cirque Kalabanté brings light to the artistic culture of Africa, revealing the value of solidarity and living together despite cultural differences.

Kalabanté’s founder, Yamoussa Bangoura, is an artist of Guinean origin who dreamed of creating a multidisciplinary circus school and company specializing in African arts. Kalabanté, meaning “child go-getter, ambitious, with exceptional courage” in the Susu language, promotes African artistic cultures and humanitarian projects while encouraging cultural exchange.

This event is sponsored by Thomas Automotive.

Presented in partnership with the Department of Student Engagement
