More About Day of Remembrance (Chicago’s Japanese American Community) @ Chicago History Museum
Each year, Chicago’s Japanese American community comes together to remember President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s signing of the Executive Order 9066, which led to the incarceration of some 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II. This program serves as a reminder of the fragility of civil liberties in times of crisis and the importance of remaining vigilant in protecting the rights and freedoms of all.
Included with Museum admission
Day of Remembrance is sponsored by the Chicago Japanese American Council, the Chicago Japanese American Historical Society, the Japanese American Citizen League–Chicago Chapter, the Japanese American Service Committee, and the Japanese Mutual Aid Society of Chicago.
