Spring is in bloom at Bulldog Park! Join Instructor Terry Chapman for Wine & Canvas from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 23. Event registration includes art supplies, a complimentary beverage of choice and guided instruction. Participants will paint florals. This event is open to all ages! Space is limited! CELEBRATE EARTH DAY WITH THE Y
Celebrate Earth Day with the Dean & Barbara White Southlake YMCA from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 20, at Camp Triangle Hills, located at 3838 W. 141st Ave. There will be rock climbing (closed-toe shoes, no Crocs); archery; fishing; hiking; and a scavenger hunt. Teachers are welcome to join the Y at 10:30 a.m. or noon for free, low ropes team-building sessions to simulate what a field trip might be like at Camp Triangle Hills. Donations of recyclable craft items, including toilet paper tubes, water bottle caps and plastic bowls will be accepted. The Y also will collect and recycle solar eclipse glasses. This event is open to the public.
SHRED EVENT
Wintrust Indiana is hosting a free community shred event from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, April 20, at its Crown Point branch located at 1420 E. Summit St. Documents should be in a paper bag or box. This event is open to customers and non-customers.
TURKEY SHOOT
Join the Sons of American Legion Squadron 20 for a spring turkey shoot this Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21. Shoot paper targets from 85 feet away to win meat prizes. The public is welcome. Sign up both days at 11 a.m. at the Legion, located at 1401 N. Main St. For more information, call 219-663-9788.
MEMORIAL FOR SNOW
Join the City of Crown Point and First United Methodist Church of Crown Point for a community memorial service for Snow at 1 p.m. this Sunday, April 21. The service will be on the front lawn of the church, located at 352 S. Main St.

Crown Point Athletics is accepting registration for various spring programs. This year, offerings include co-ed softball, sand volleyball and youth basketball. Registration for most programs is accepted online through LeagueApps.

The City of Crown Point was founded on Oct. 31, 1834, by Solon Robinson. At the time, it was known as Robinson’s Prairie, named after Solon Robinson. Crown Point was incorporated as a town on June 3, 1868, and officially became a city 43 years later on June 6, 1911.
Crown Point is the seat of Lake County and is considered "The Hub," of Lake County.
