More About Allegany Museum 2023 Season

The Allegany Museum is excited to announce that it will reopen its doors on April 12th for its
2023 Season.

This local first class museum currently has a collection of over 50,000 items and features exhibits that highlight the unique heritage of the local region and its contribution to our nation’s development. The museum’s newest and largest exhibit, housed on the first floor, “Crossroads of America” traces the history of human movement through Cumberland and Allegany County. The second-floor features local Industry from the region.

Allegany Museum is located at 3 Pershing St, Cumberland MD.The Museum serves the Allegany area, which is part of the Appalachia region. The Allegany area includes Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland, Mineral County in West Virginia, and Bedford and Somerset Counties in Pennsylvania.
The Museum’s Mission is to engage the community by preserving and promoting our region’s unique heritage.

Museum hours are Wednesday thru Saturday 11-5 and Sunday 1-5.

George Washington Whiskey Rebellion Fest
A grand celebration of the heritage of George Washington in Cumberland, ‘Mountain Maryland’, second Friday in June each year, at Allegany Museum, 3 Pershing St, Cumberland MD.
