More About Accepting the Support of Others During Grief as an Adolescent

Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to the emotional impact of losing a loved one. The most important thing you can do to help yourself is to accept the support of others.

1. Acknowledge your need for support: This step may be challenging, but it's crucial to start the healing process. 🫂
2. Identify your support system: This can include close family members, friends, a therapist, or a counselor.
3. Be specific about what you need: People often want to help but don't know how. Be specific in what you need, whether that's someone to talk to, someone to help with household chores or someone to take you for a walk.
4. Let go of guilt: People who care about you want to help you. Remember that asking for help is a sign of strength and courage. ❤️

And if you're struggling to find the support you need, reach out to SMD Associates. 👩‍💼
