More About CES presents the Maryland Symphony Orchestra
The beloved Maryland Symphony Orchestra returns for a stirring concert of three Romantic-era masterworks. Felix Mendelssohn’s hauntingly beautiful Melusine Overture conveys the folkloric tale of a mythical being, Louise Farrenc’s captivating Symphony No. 3 showcases the composer’s skillful use of counterpoint and chromatic harmonies and Ludwig von Beethoven’s dramatic and passionate Symphony No. 7 provides a triumphant finale to a magical symphonic performance.
Prior to the performance, at 6:30 p.m., MSO Music Director, Elizabeth Schulze, will present Prélude, a discussion of the works to be performance.
Concert tickets are $40 for adults; $36 FSU employees and military; $17 for youth under 18; and free for FSU students. For more information, visit ces.frostburg.edu or call 301-687-3137.
Since its founding in 1982, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s influence and reputation have reached far beyond Western Maryland. Under the baton of Elizabeth Schulze, who was declared by the Washington Post to be “a superb conductor,” MSO has become a first-class orchestra of exceptional artistic quality.
The presentation of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra is supported by the Community Trust Foundation’s Iris and Peter Halmos Community Fund and by the FSU Foundation.

Each year, the Cultural Events Series (CES) at Frostburg State University brings prestigious national and international performing artists to the tri-state community. The annual presenting series includes diverse genres of music, dance, comedy and theatre.
