More About First Day Hike at the Fort
On January 1st, start your new year off right by participating in Indiana State Park’s traditional First Day Hike at Fort Harrison State Park! This year, two hikes will be offered.
SCHEDULE
1️⃣10:00am First Day Hike #1
Meet at Delaware Shelter for a 2-mile hike on Camp Creek Trail. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather for this 2-hour long hike. Trail is moderate with some elevation change and tree roots.
☕🍪12:00pm-1:00 pm Hot Chocolate and Cookies provided by The Friends of Fort Harrison State Park.
2️⃣1:00pm First Day Hike #2
Meet at Delaware Shelter for a 2 mile walk on the paved Harrison Trace Trail. Dress for the weather!
If you plan to come to the 1:00pm hike, consider arriving early to enjoy some hot chocolate and treats, as traffic can get backed up at the gate close to the time of the hike.
