Fairfield Center Stage presents “The Music Man In Concert” June 28-30

Fairfield Center Stage, a new community theater group, will present a free outdoor musical-in-concert in downtown Fairfield this June. Featuring local artists and staff from Fairfield County, FCS’s inaugural presentation will be “The Music Man in Concert”, running one weekend only, June 28-30, 2018 at Fairfield Museum Commons at 370 Beach Rd behind Old Town Hall.

Featuring a local cast of 55 performers and a 12 piece onstage orchestra – this concert version of Meredith Willson’s classic musical is a fantastic opportunity to experience one of the best musical comedies from the golden age of Broadway. Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets/low-back chairs & picnics for this family-friendly summer event under the stars.

The event will be presented with FREE general admission tickets to all thanks to subsidization by individual donors and local corporate sponsors. Reserved VIP tickets are available for sale at click for details. Amenities include local food trucks, concessions (including wine and beer), and access to indoor restrooms. For accessible seating access please email info@fairfieldcenterstage.org.

Performances are Thurs June 28 @ 7:30pm, Fri June 29 @ 7:30pm (opening night), Sat June 30 @ 2pm (matinee), and Sat June 30 @ 7:30pm (closing night). Performances will be presented outdoors at 370 Beach Rd in Fairfield. Vicinity street parking is free (no valet parking available, but drop-offs at front of Museum are ok). The park opens one hour before showtime for seating/picnics.

“The Music Man” follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who aims to transform him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall. Audiences will hear such popular songs as “Till There Was You,” “76 Trombones,” “Trouble,” “My White Knight”, “The Wells Fargo Wagon”, and many more, accompanied by an onstage orchestra.

The all-local production staff includes Direction by Christy McIntosh-Newsom, Music Direction by Clay Zambo, Choreography by Madeleine Tommins, co-Scenic Design by Perry Liu and Kevin Pelkey, Costume Design by Jessica Camarero, Lighting Design by Don Rowe, and Sound Design by Joe Boerst, with Alec Smith serving as Production Stage Manager. Fairfield Center Stage is led by Executive Producer Eli Newsom.
