Native Plants for Sale

More About Native Plants for Sale

Due to COVID-19 related protocol and building closures, sales MUST be done by appointment only and will be handled with minimal contact, PPE, and appropriate social distancing measures. All appointments must be made by calling the Cool Creek Nature Center at 317-774-2500 or emailing us at cool.naturecenter@hamiltoncounty.in.gov. We typically have staff available to help facilitate sale Monday through Saturday 10am-5pm. Cash and checks are accepted. All credit card purchases include an additional fee of $1 plus 2% of the overall purchase.

The Cool Creek Nature Center is selling a selection of native plants that you might want to add to your yard! Currently, we have one tree and two shrub species for sale and will be adding some native wildflowers and grasses later this spring:

Allegheny Serviceberry (Amelanchier laevis) $25
American Witchhazel (Hamamelis virginiana) $20

Quart sized containers are priced at $7 a piece:
Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata)
Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa)
Common Mountain Mint (Pycnanthemum virginanum)
Riddell’s goldenrod (Oligoneuron riddelli)
Downy Sunflower (Helianthus mollis)
Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica)
Sky-blue aster (Symphyotrichum oolentangiense)
Common Spiderwort (Tradescantia ohiensis)
Prairie Dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepis)
Common Oak Sedge (Carex pensylvanica)

Our native plant sale will extend into the fall, but quantities may be limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Reorders will take place as needed, and the species offerings are subject to change based on supplier’s stock. Our staff is happy to help residents in general plant-related questions via phone or email for those looking to add natives to their yard, and avoid non-natives and invasives and navigate the best, and ecologically-healthy choices for your landscape.
