Frostburg State University announces the opening of “Eclectic Assemblage,” an exhibition by senior art students in the Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery in FSU’s Fine Arts Building. The exhibit will have an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.

“Eclectic Assemblage” is a collection of diverse ideas and techniques within a broad range of artistic mediums. The exhibitors are spring 2019 graduates, Travis Dodson, Lauren “Avery” Fabre, Amber Peterson, Ilyane Rodriguez and Hannah Twigg. The media featured in this show include ceramics, graphic design, illustration, printmaking and sculpture and will be on display until Wednesday, May 15.

Dodson majored in fine arts with a dual focus in ceramics and sculpture, along with a minor in art history. He plans to continue his education through the FSU Master of Arts in Teaching Program. Dodson graduated from South Hagerstown High School.

Faber studied ceramic arts and sculpture at FSU after finding a budding passion for ceramic arts. Fabre also minors in art history and graphic design. She plans to continue her education through the FSU Master of Arts in Teaching. Fabre graduated from Sheldon Clark High School in Kentucky in 2010.

Peterson studied graphic design at the College of Southern Maryland before continuing her undergraduate career at FSU for graphic design and illustration. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career as a graphic designer. Peterson graduated from Henry E. Lackey High School in 2014.

As an undergraduate, Rodriguez studied ceramics with a minor in art history. She hopes to further her work in ceramics as a career. Rodriguez graduated from Fort Hill High School in 2015.

This exhibit is a unique opportunity to see firsthand the work of six young artists as they start their journey toward a career in the visual arts. This group reports having a great experience at Frostburg State, and they hope to keep in touch after graduation.
